The Mead-Fairchild house is a lovely oversized shingle-style craftsman designed by noted Berkeley architect Walter Ratcliff. Ratcliff was the city architect for Berkeley at the height of his career, and his residential and commercial work defines much of Berkeley today. This home is full of great original details including multiple fireplaces, coffered ceilings, board and batten paneling, and divided light windows.
