5421 Hillside, El Cerrito

Today we feature an unusual storybook foreclosure in the northernmost reaches of El Cerrito. This home has some great features. From the stone exterior and steeply pitched roofs to the exposed beams and interesting windows, it is a fantastical facsimile of a fairytale cottage. We are particularly fond of the rounded plaster returns around the doors and windows instead of traditional wood moldings – a very uncommon treatment which makes the interior spaces feel more organic or handcrafted.

not veneer stones….they go all the way through…. no wood in the walls…looks great,
    but not in earthquakes.
