1243 Glen, Berkeley

This unusual mid-century has a decidedly vertical disposition at a time when most homes were trying to be as horizontal as possible. The home feels a bit like the work of Julian Taylor and Robert Benson for this reason, though in 1951 it would have been before the official start of their collaboration. Zealous painting has unfortunately robbed the home of some of its original color and texture, but even so the interiors remain impressive with towering two and three story walls of glass that illuminate the public spaces.
