15 Castle Park, Oakland

This exceptionally light and airy Bay Region mid-century has some features that make it look like the work of Jon Konigshofer. Konigshofer was born in Alameda but spent most of his professional life in Carmel building homes for the well-heeled including rather famously Bing Crosby. Authorship aside however, the home stands on its own as a particularly compelling piece of modernist architecture. The preponderance of redwood and glass makes for particularly inviting interiors, yet there is also a certain formality to the spaces that is often lacking in some of the more rustic Bay Region homes.
