540 Santa Clara, Alameda

Click picture for additional photos and complete listing

This extravagantly detailed Queen Anne is one of a tract of four homes built by prolific Alameda design-builders Marcuse & Remmel on this stretch of Santa Clara in 1893. The four homes celebrate their 120th birthdays this year and amazingly 540 appears to have survived all this time with most of its original detailing intact. Not only is the exceptionally ornate exterior millwork still in place, but the interiors boast plenty of period flavor as well which is a rare treat indeed in a home of this vintage.
