2125 Durant, Berkeley

This unusual little period revival structure in the middle of downtown Berkeley was built to house the portraiture studio of renowned photographer G Paul Bishop. The studio with attached residence was the last building designed and built by Carl Fox and Fox Brothers Construction who are perhaps best known for their two storybook enclaves along University Avenue. When Bishop passed away in 1998 after a long and storied career, his son G Paul Bishop Jr. took over the business in the midst of a great upheaval in the photographic industry and until recently carried on the work his father began. Now this charming little structure is ready for its second owner to find the perfect use for its unique spaces and central location.
