Today we feature another nicely proportioned Spanish colonial revival attributed to Clarence Tantau. Tantau was more of a specialist than many of his contemporaries who were comfortable designing homes in any one of a variety of different period revival styles. Tantau’s homes, on the other hand, are almost exclusively Spanish derived. This focused approach could have led to more repetition, but in fact it allowed him to experiment with the form and therefore resulted in greater variation. This particular example is especially minimal with the creeping influence of art moderne and modernist tastes beginning to make their way into Tantau’s lexicon.
