10 Chambers, Oakland

This charming Oakland mid-century has a fairly orthodox Bay Region exterior but inside the detailing is surprisingly light and gracile thanks to the use of steel for the handrails and stairs. This creates interior spaces that are unusually minimal and airy for a home of this period – particularly in the Bay Area where redwood had long before become the material of choice both inside and outside.
