This charming Montclair mid-century was designed by local architect Kaya Apaydin for his family. Apaydin was the son of a Turkish ambassador who together with another architect of Turkish decent named Haluk Akol would form the successful East Bay firm Akol, Angell and Apaydin. They would focus mostly on commercial and educational projects, but clearly Apaydin had an affinity for residential design as well. His home is in many ways a fairly traditional piece of Bay Region modernist design, but he has personalized it with bleached interior woodwork and diagonal interior siding long before it was in vogue.
