This picturesque Tudor revival is one of the largest single family commissions undertaken by Walter Ratcliff. From the outside, its substantial bulk is masked somewhat by the low-slung roofline, but inside the spaces are unabashedly grand with towering trusses and loads of cast stone detailing. All of it is assembled with Ratcliff’s usual skill and attention to detail. His legendary knowledge of period revival embellishment and his ability to unify surprising and seemingly disparate design elements was unrivaled among his peers and remains as impressive today.
