Edwin Lewis Snyder is often credited as one of the first architects to start building Spanish colonial homes in Northern California and this lovely early Monterey variation is particularly nice. His designs are typically quite understated and this one is no exception with very finely wrought details and a minimum of embellishment inside and out. This reserve served him well throughout his career making his work accessible to a broad audience and as a result, today we find his homes widely distributed throughout Oakland and Berkeley.
